Reduce Waste

WACO coordinates recycling efforts between the public and Valley Community for Recycling Solutions.

To reduce the amount of waste making its way into the Matanuska-Susitna Borough’s Central Landfill, the borough provided 40-yard containers to the Willow Area Community Organization for participating in the Borough Solid Waste Division Recycling program. These bins were refurbished for recycling. The Borough maintains ownership of the bins and hauls them to the recycling hub when they are full.

To keep this program sustainable a network of volunteers are needed. For details about how and when you can help please contact Jane Newman at (907) 355-5741 or send us a note through the Volunteer page.
