There has been a date change, and a change in the race format! The Jog for Dogs 5K will take place the same day as the Willow Dog Mushers’ Mini Symposium. Additionally, this will be a 5K for humans, NOT for dogs (proceeds from the race, however, will benefit the canine athletes of the Willow Dog Mushers Association!)

If you do choose to participate with your dog, it must be leashed at all times, and you will be kindly asked to walk, not run.

Race time: 11 am

Race time: 9 am - Race day sign-up starts at 8 am.
Where: Meet at Red Shirt Lake Trail head, South Rolly Campground, Nancy Lake State Park.
Parking available at Overlook Picnic area about 1/4 mile from start. $ 5 fee for parking required, free with State Park annual pass. Please carpool!
Entry fee $ 15
Kids under 16 free, however, no kids category will be offered, kids to run with adults.

Proceeds to benefit Willow Trail Committee.
Trail information: This is a hilly, sometimes-muddy, single lane trail that is shared with hikers. Bears also frequent the area. The race course is out-and-back to Red Shirt Lake, where a water station will be available at the turn-around point. Bring your trail shoes and your bear bells!

Race time: noon for adults, kids race after the parade (1:30ish, subject to change)
Start and finish at Willow Community Center (mile 69.7 Parks Hwy.)
Race course is mostly flat, some pavement, some gravel roads.
Proceeds to benefit Willow Elementary School Library.

The 1st Annual Willow Race Series got underway at the Winter Carnival February, 2008. There are a series of 6 races for runners and walkers happening over the year. A Willow organization will be promoted for each race. The races are sponsored by WHO. The MatSu Health Foundation provided us with a grant to get the first race off the ground.
