Main / WACO Committees

WACO is managed by a number of Committees, each the responsibility of an elected officer. Each committee has a separate section on this web site where it can report its activities. Because it may not be obvious which section reports what, this page describes what each Committee should be reporting, and where you should go for more information.

Committee responsibilities are defined in the bylaws.

Governmental Affairs

Communications (letters, etc) between WACO and the Borough/State. Our correspondence is reproduced; where those of Borough/State are in electronic form, or where we can reproduce with modest efforts, their replies are either included or abstracted.

Note that it is our policy not to publish letters before the recipient has had a reasonable chance to read them.

Pages in this section have a “Gov” prefix.

Communications

Minutes, Agendas of our various meetings are placed on-line here. But the Communications Committee has a wider responsibility. It must try to ensure that all WACO members have access to notices of upcoming meetings, events and items of general interest in a timely manner. While this is not always possible, via this web-site, the Willow Breeze, posts to local notice boards, and email, it tries to reach the largest population possible.

Pages in this section have a “Comms” prefix.

Community Center

The Planning & Facility Operations Committee is responsible for our building, it’s maintenance, personnel and operation.

Responsibilities include rental, repair and policing of the facility.

Floor plans and rental agreement forms are available on-line.

Pages in this section have a “PFC” prefix.

Ways and Means

The state of the treasury is reported here, together with any commentary. This Committee is responsible for finances, gaming and payroll.

While not part of the Ways and Means Committee, audit results are also posted.

Pages in this section have a “Tres” prefix.

Community Development

This is the research arm of WACO. The Chair may ask, for example, “What are the implications of local ownership of WACO facilities?” and expect the CDC to respond with findings, pro’s and con’s, and a recommendation for consideration by the WACO membership.

Pages in this section have a “CDC” prefix.

Winter Carnival

Willow’s Winter Carnival is our main fund raiser—it pays for our caretaker and upkeep of the building, with help from the Borough (they own the building and pay library costs). We are the envy of many Councils around us. The Carnival Committee, where the entire Board is required to contribute, has the unenviable task of raising that money.

Pages in this section have a “Carnival” prefix.

Special Standing Committees

WACO also recognizes special standing committees; the Trails committee ( “Trails” prefix) has it’s own section on the website.
