GUEST SPEAKERS:

Jaques Boutet, from the Boutet Company hired to develop Willow Summer Trails Plan, spoke about the company’s experience. In addition, he discussed how the plan will be developed. He stressed the company wants as much community participation as possible. The final document should be completed by April 2011.

Sheri Lou and Rodney Segriff said they would like to see a neighbor park in Willow where young people can enjoy softball, soccer and picnics. It was suggested that the 40 acre parcel may be used that way. All agreed a swimming pool would also be a great addition to the Willow area. Sheri and Rodney are donating a projector and screen so movies may be shown in the community center.

ASSEMBLY REPRESENTATIVES REPORT

Mark Newman reported on the state budget and what was funded and what was not funded for the next fiscal year.

Vern Halter stated the mil rate was lowered, EMS received a raise and the school budget increased.

OFFICER’S REPORTS

1. Secretary: in the process of writing a letter of support for grants written to secure a new fire hall. Met with Borough staff in Willow May 14<sup>th</sup>.

2. Finance: Financial statement provided and expenses and income are tracking the budget consistently.

3. Vice Chair: All is well with building maintenance.

4. Chair:

  • Linda attended Rail committee and Houston’s preferred site.
  • Attended first Youth Forum.
  • May 14th met with Borough staff in Willow.
  • Working on July 4th celebration plans
  • Need management agreement with Borough by next week.
  • Need audit committee.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

1. Carnival: Want a roller skate night and a carnival booklet. Meet 3rd Monday of the month at 7 pm.

2. Trails: Next meeting 16th of the month.

3. CERT: No report.

COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

No report.

COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING TEAM

Adjourned for summer. Next meeting 1st Thursday of October.

AREA REPORTS

Jason & George: Fishing slow at Deshka Landing.

Brian : Nancy Lake clean up coming up.

Janet: Clean up went well.

LOCAL GROUPS

1. Library – Special program for Father’s Day. Librarian is retiring – retirement party will be announced.

2. Mushers – Pet costume contest July 4th. Working on Symposium.

3. EMS – Reported number of calls for April and May. Need burn permit.

Fire Department open house June 23rd 6-9 pm.

4. Lions – Want to put up kiosk at lake with life preservers for kids. Instillation of officers Thursday.

5. WHO – Meeting 2nd Tuesday of month. First Farmer’s Market July 2, 2-7 pm.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Houston police are ticketing within Willow boundaries:

It was discussed that Houston City covers liability of police officer. Troopers and Houston officer work together. Houston police writes a state citation so money goes to state.

2. Opening prayer at WACO meetings:

MOTION to lay topic on the table. Motion was seconded.

VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Steve Jacobson asked WACO to support a debate in the community.

2. Lance (Fire Chief) suggested writing a grant for a reader board to be placed on the highway so people know what is happening in the community.
