Assembly Representative’s Report

Vern Halter gave a short report regarding MSB activities and priorities.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Written report was presented.
  • As there is money left in the current budget under the SWM policy.
    MOTION: Michael Bishop moved that WACO spend up to $3500 on a snowblower, to be used for the Community Center. Motion was seconded.
    VOTE: Motion passed with no objection.

Vice-Chair’s Report

  • Several items have been added to the MSB CIP list for the Community Center.
    • New Septic System
    • New Hall Floor
    • Rewire Kitchen, Restrooms & Office.
    • Heating fixes are currently in process.
  • The fuel ran out again at the Center.
    MOTION: Dana Hills moved to send a letter to MSB Manager Duffy regarding the fuel running out. Motion was seconded.
    VOTE: Motion passed with no objection.

Chair’s Report

  • 290 people were served at the Holiay Dinner. Thank you to all the volunteers.

Carnival

Pat Madigan:

  • We still lack volunteers for both the Carnival Awards & Adult Games. If no-one will take the lead on the Carnival Awards, there will be no King & Queen or Gold Pan Awards.

Tom Phillips: The Trails Committee supports both motions made at the last meeting that were put off till this meeting.

  • Norm Wakeman
    • 5 masts are available for radio operators that need them.

Unfinished Business

The following motions were brought back from the last meeting.

MOTION: Roni Widner moved that Trails and CERT be defined as standing committees in the WACO bylaws. Motion was seconded.
AMENDMENT: Pat Madigan moved the motion be amended to also remove Special Standing Committees definition from the bylaws. Motion was seconded.
VOTE: The amendment passed with no objection.
AMENDMENT: Roni Widner moved the main motion be amended to change the wording in the bylaws to The Chair will be selected by the Committee and endorsed by the WACO Chair for both the Trails Committee and CERT.
VOTE: Amendment passed with no objection.
VOTE: Motion as amended passed with no objection.

Summer Trails Project.

The following motion was brought forward from the last meeting.

MOTION: Roni Widner moved that WACO recognize the Willow Trails Committee and the WHO as equal partners in the Summer Trails project. Motion was seconded.
MOTION: Roni Widner moved that the motion be postponed till Steve Charles is present. Motion was seconded.
VOTE: The motion to postpone passed without objection.

Letter of Support for the Food Bank.

MOTION: Roni Widner moved that WACO send the letter of support as presented to the Mat-Su Health Foundation on behalf of the Food Bank. Motion was seconded
VOTE: Motion passed with no objection.

NE Area Report

Roni Widner:

  • Did the Community Center need to be closed for 3 days for the Holiday Dinner setup? Norm Wakeman agreed it would not happen again.
  • Received several calls regarding flooding on Willow Creek. The situation was not declared a disaster, so what can be done in these circumstances?

NW Area Report

Dana Hills:

  • Received several calls regarding the road expansion on the Parks Hwy from MP 72 to MP 83. Some people’s property will be adversely affected by the clear cutting of the whole ROW. So far DOT is not responding to calls.

Emergency Services

Deborah Bloom:

  • Willow Fire & Rescue logged 18 incidents for November. Willow Ambulance
  • One Explorer has turned 18 and is now a basic firefighter with Willow Fire.
  • There are currently four firefighters and five community members in the EMT-1 class at Sunshine. This will mean 9 new medics for Willow.
  • As of now Willow has 24 Fire & Rescue personnel. In total Willow has 34 emergency responders.

Library Association

Claire Fitzgaireld:

  • Festival of Trees will be December 19th, followed by Bonfire & Carols.

Lions

Tom Phillips:

  • The half hog raffle tickets are on sale.
  • Judges at Geo Bee at the Willow Elementary school.
  • Skate Night is on hold till January.

WDMA

Bob Sexton:

  • WDMA has a donation of dog food available for people in need.
  • Working on setting up emergency storage.

Announcements

Kitchen Committee.

Has no members left. Roni Widner is however taking responsibility for the Carnival Kitchen.

Iditarod Kitchen.

Requires someone to take the lead.
