Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the August 12 board meeting were approved.

Officers Reports
Treasurer.
Noted
- The minor profit shown for August will probably be offset by utility costs that have yet to be billed;
- The good standing of accounts is largely due to the activities of the Gaming Committee,
Vice Chair.
The emergency generator has been installed and all wiring is completed. Next step is testing and fine tuning.
Chair.
- The August board meeting elected not to continue the rental agreement with the Willow Historical and Wildlife Foundation and will so inform the Borough;
- Attended the public meeting on August 6th., regarding the proposed Electrical Utility Corridor; the joint resolution of WACO and Houston City Council was presented; noted that many Knik residents were unaware of the proposal; expected that the process might now slow down;
- Attended an Energy Round Table (Senator Huggins) where a light rail commuter connection was under consideration. Open questions included the possible schedule, and potential stops;
- Has no new information on either Railroad Corridor or Gas exploration;
- Reminded members of the upcoming Comp. Plan. meeting where land use will be considered.
Carnival.
- Next meeting will be Monday, September 15, at 7PM;
- Oktoberfest raffle tickets are now on sale;
- All local organizations are encouraged to provide a table centerpiece for the Oktoberfest dinner;
- One carnival event will be a Carnival Ball with a 1959 Sock Hop theme.
Community Enrichment.
- Has now received it’s 2008/9 grant;
- Tai Chi classes will be starting again;
- A one day beading class (snowflakes) will be held;
- Welcomed another co-ordinator (Sabrina Christley).
Communications.
Mary Shreves
- Had not been able to publish the Breeze for the last two month;
- Has published since circa 1995;
- Believed that the web-site covered most of the material formerly contained in the Breeze;
- Noted that a monthly email also covered upcoming events;
- Suggested that perhaps now is the time to discontinue.
MOTION: Derrel Godbee made the motion that the
Breeze be discontinued; motion was seconded.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
The Chair, on behalf of WACO, thanked Mary for her many years of workthat sentiment was shared by all present.

New Business
PTA Raffle.
Ember Hayes asked that WACO carry out a raffle on behalf of the PTA ; the raffle expects to provide $2,000 in prizes; proceeds to the PTA Halloween Carnival.
MOTION: Linda Anselm moved that WACO conduct a raffle on behalf of the PTA . Motion was seconded.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
WACO LOGO.
Pat Madigan suggested a community competition to develop a ball caps etc. Details to be developed later.
MOTION: Roni Widner moved that WACO hold a competition to develop a WACO logo. Motion was seconded.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

Local Organization Reports
Emergency Services.
Nothing to report; with a wet summer, their had been few fires.
Seniors.
Well and septic is installed at the Willow Parkway site; six units being built initially, one or two designated low income; occupancy expected August ‘09.
PTA.
Hosting a Books and Movie Swap on September 18th., 6-7pm at Willow Elementary School. Materials brought to the swap should be child appropriate. Video of this summers Kachemak Bay trip is also planned.
Lions.
Skate Night’s restarting, first planned for September 19th, 5-7:30pm at Willow Elementary School.
MOTION: Twila Palmatier moved that the Lions be allowed to use WACO’s bulk mailing permit for the Lions Calendar. Motion was seconded.
VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.
WDMA.
The Willow Dog Mushers reported over 132 mushers attended their first Mushers Symposium and thanked the community for their help.
Chamber of Commerce.
Meeting on Wednesday, October 1st at the Trading Post. Dinner starts at 6:30pm, meeting at 7:00pm.
