WACO has no official logo. So we are launching a competition to pick one. If you have some ideas and a modest artistic or graphics ability, submit your design for our letterheads, teeshirts and ball caps.

Artistic
- No constraints are placed upon your design. We would mention, however, that we are a community organization/council, and we are based in Willow, Alaska.
- Text graphics, “seals” or artistic compositions are all acceptable.
- Designs may be in color, but be capable of acceptable rendering in black and white (for letterheads or commercial printing). Since the winning entry may be printed (large) on a teeshirt, or (small) as web site branding, designs should scale well.
- your design should be free for WACO to use in any fashion it desires and without attribution (the winning design will have a page with explanation on the web site however).
Technical
- artwork may be submitted but no larger that US letter please, since it will have to be scanned for reproduction.
- computer generated images should be no smaller than 800x600.
- PNG or SVG formats are preferred, since these scale accurately. Other (non-proprietary) formats are acceptable but will be converted to PNG before use.
- images should be placed on a transparent background (the square background of a circular or shaped logo should be transparent).
- you don’t need to buy a graphics program to enter. Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org) is a vector graphics editor that is free of charge and available for download for most operating systems. The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) (http://www.gimp.org) is an image composition/authoring tool that is similarly freely available. Both support export to the PNG format.
Competition
- Eligibility
Anyone may submit design(s); you do not have to be a Willow resident.
- Submissions
Should be emailed to pmadigan@mtaonline.net or mailed to our regular address by Feb, 28 2009. Please include an explanation of your design, and, if submitting non electronic artwork, if you require that work returned after scanning. Note that we cannot be responsible for damage to such submissions.
- Display
On receipt of a design, it will be placed on our web site and displayed at the Willow Community Center.
- Selection
Will be by vote of members of WACO. Voting will be by ballot at the Community Center, and counted at the Annual General Meeting. Electronic voting may also be possible.
