Gov / Elimination of subsidies

The following letter was sent to all local groups. The green paragraph was included only in the letter sent to Willow Area Seniors, Inc.

June 22, 2007

At our last board meeting on June 13th., we carefully and thoroughly reviewed the state of WACO finances. With costs rising for all utilities and with other expected expenses our financial future looks bleak unless we make harsh decisions about our economics. One of those decisions, approved unanimously by the board, was to stop all subsidies to local organizations.

Effective July 1st., any use of the Community Center kitchen for actual cooking or baking will require payment of $25.00. This fee will cover WACO’s costs for your use of the propane and maintenance of kitchen appliances. It will not make WACO any money above expenses, nor contribute to the replacement of any kitchen equipment. Payment should be made prior to use; either drop at the office or mail to the address above.

A second decision involves the appliances that are currently stored at the Community Center. The Board decided that we need to recover our costs for any appliances that do not belong to WACO. Please contact Norm Wakeman to make arrangements for the appliances you wish to leave there and pay the associated electrical charges and those you wish to remove.

We deeply regret the necessity for taking this step, but feel sure you understand the predicament we face. Further information about all our decisions is available on the website via the board meeting minutes. Or you can feel free to contact me or any other board member directly.

Sincerely,
Linda Oxley
