Gov / Borough re Fuel Oil

Re: Heating Oil Deliveries

Dear Mr. Duffy,

At our December board meeting I was asked to write about our concerns with the delivery of heating oil to the Community Center and Library.

Since changing vendors August of last year [2008], we have run out of oil three (perhaps four) times, most recently at the beginning of December. Once might be classed as an accident, but three times smacks of incompetence. Each time we run out, not only does a member of our board wait at the center for the delivery, but an MSB employee must also attend to start the boilers. I am told that we also run the risk of burning out the day pump.

The previous vendor, Valley Fuel, is within half a mile of the Center. During the time they provided service we did not run out once. I understand the decision to change vendors was a financial one, but Valley Fuel were not given an opportunity to re‐bid, nor have they been asked for a quote since.

I would appreciate your attention to this matter, and in particular the re‐consideration of Valley Fuel as a supplier of choice for the Community Center.

Sincerely,
