ASSEMBELY REPRESENTATIVES REPORT

Vern Halter not present but Linda mentioned the Borough vote—strong mayor may only represent populated areas of Borough.

OFFICER’S REPORTS

1. Secretary: No report.
2. Finance: No report.
3. Vice Chair:

• Parking lot was swept—cost 50% paid by WACO and 50% by Borough. Painting the lines is next.
• The WCC window’s were cleaned and working on getting power line.
• May purchase materials to build more picnic tables or buy tables.
• Management agreement expired but we are granted an extension.

1. Chair:

• Capitol Improvement Projects list is due September 15th
• Youth Forum met August 12th to discuss community enrichment for youth.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

1. Carnival: Need Board to attend carnival meetings so they can take on projects. Next meeting Sept 20th 7 -8 pm. If can’t attend and need a project contact Mary.
2. Trails: No report.
3. CERT: Free CERT training at community center August 14 through 16th. Eight hours each day followed by a 4 hour test. Bring lunch and snacks. This is for all ages. Call 495-1210 home or 715-7595 cell to reserve a spot.

NW : Quiet, still concerns with Park’s Highway construction. Stopped traffic at flagging locations is setting off carbon monoxide detectors in homes.

NE: AK Troopers were called as some stoves have been stolen and there was suspicious traffic in the area.

LOCAL GROUPS

1. Library : Retirement party for Clair Monday, August 9th 4-7 pm.
2. Mushers: WDMA will sponsor ½ of Friday night Carnival dinner. They have wooden dogs available to decorate—they will be auctioned at the Saturday night dinner.
3. EMS: June; 3 fires, 6 rescue and 24 ambulance calls. July; 9 fire, 0 rescue and 13 ambulance calls. Please drive carefully and wear protective gear when riding 4-wheeler or motorcycle.
4. Lions: No report.
5. WHO: No report.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Need a registered WACO agent to the State for incorporation status.

MOTION: Appoint Linda Oxley as registered agent for the State. Motion seconded.

VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

1. More discussion on the use of the $20,000 revenue sharing. Possible items would be: 1) replace stoves in WCC kitchen, 2) grade and pave upper parking lot at WCC, and 3) fund a plan for recreation use on the 40 acres parcel. Will send a letter out on WACO list serve for ideas for development of the 40 acres. Question was raised if the 40 acres is the same parcel dedicated to the fire department. Will check with Natural Resources Unit.
2. Frying Pan Lake—hold till next month.
3. Linda read a Proclamation for Health Center Week in Willow.

MOTION: To issue the proclamation as read regarding Health Center Week. Motion seconded.

VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

1. Tentative meeting with DOT postponed due to scheduling conflict. Waiting for a new meeting date.
2. Discussion on moving WACO meetings to 2nd Monday of month—see if Talkeetna will change their date as there is a conflict with EMS.
3. Unattended dog lot ordinance is before Borough Assembly August 3.

MOTION: WACO supports the ordinance 10-066 concerning unattended kennel and cattery. Motion seconded.

VOTE: Motion passed unanimously.

1. Mile 44-52 on Parks Highway construction project EIS meeting August 17th 6-8 pm at Menard Center
