QUORUM

No quorum was present for a general meeting. There was a quorum present for a board meeting.

Request by Mike Bishop to spend WACO money was added under New Business.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

MOTION: To approve the May 4, 2009, minutes with one correction. Sam Houston changed to Sam Newman representing the Willow PTA.
VOTE: The minutes were approved with one correction as noted.

GUEST SPEAKERS

  3. Wayne Biessel (Division of Parks & Recreation)
  • The Hatcher Pass Management Plan is being revised. Willow input is requested to help revise the present plan to focus on recreational use. Such things as parking, bathrooms, trailheads and trail access would be considered.

  • There will be another meeting in Willow during July.

  • The water system is hooked up and awaiting the results of a lab test before it is ready to use.

  • Linda Oxley has written a letter to Rick about the Timber sales. The letter can be found on the website.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

  1. Carnival
  • Three people are needed to head-up T-shirts, Awards and Venders
  1. Bylaws:
  • The next meeting is June 16 at 6PM at the Community Center.
  • A transition plan is being created.
  1. Trails:
  • A new trail from Big Lake was put in this winter.
  • There are plans to apply again for a grant to fund the master plan for the Willow Pedestrian Project.
  1. CERT:
  • We are waiting for a building permit to be approved for the new shed.

COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT:

  • We have an instructor for a CPR class if 10 people sign-up. There are currently 9 people signed up.
  • There will be a class on preserving food.

PLANNING:

  • The next Planning meeting is Thursday June 4th at 6:30 here at the Community Center.
  • We are waiting for the results of the survey.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  • The Farmers Market has ordered canopies. 10 venders have committed with 4 selling food items. The Market will be located across from Newman’s starting July 3. It will be held every Friday from 2-7 PM through the summer.
  • Discussion about developing a master plan for the 40 acre parcel off from the Willow Campground road.

MOTION: To have $5,200 from the Community Revenue Sharing Improvement Funds be allocated to the Willow Trails Committee to develop a master plan for the Willow Pedestrian Trails Project.
VOTE: Passed

NEW BUSINESS

  • Bed Tax nominations held until July meeting
  • Five-Year Schedule of Timber Sales Comments held until next meeting
  • There is a proposed surplus of $10,000 for the SWM fund (WACO money). There are five requests for money currently: Upgrade to kitchen equipment, A frame Display sign plus letters, Race Bibs, Table trucks and Bike racks totaling $4,500.

MOTION: To spend $4,500 of the $10,000 SWM fund on the five requested items.
VOTE: Passed

LOCAL ORGANIZATION REPORTS

1. Emergency Services

  • You must call the number listed on your burn permit prior to each time you burn.

2. WDMA

  • We are still waiting to determine participation in the 4th of July.

3. 4H

  • The recycling event held on May 23 was a success with over 20 families showing up.
  • June 6th will be another recycling day. Collection bins will be handed out thanks to BP’s donation.
  • Clean-up day is June 6th.

4. Library

  • June 4th at 7 PM will be a presentation on waterfowl and bird behavior.
  • The summer reading program will be between June 11 and July 30th. The theme is Express Yourself.

5. LIONS

  • Preschool graduation is over.
  • The walk and ride went well.

6. Garden Club, Chamber of Commerce, Road Service, She-Mon-Sun, PTA, WHO & Seniors:

  • No reports

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. The “Guide to Willow” is at the printer. The Chamber of Commerce has graciously decided to cover the costs of printing. Copies should be done in two weeks. It will also be available shortly on line at the WACO and Chamber website.
  2. Darral Godbee is still looking for someone to be in charge of the 4th of July Parade.
  3. Darral Godbee will look into costs for gravel to be used around the old log building on the Community Center property.
  4. The next WACO meeting will be July 6th.
