Secretary’s Report
- We have received the CIP nomination forms and Bed Tax Grant applications from MSB. These are due in to MSB by November 15.
- Thank you to the following for helping to clean the Library for 2 months, thus saving WACO about $1500. Fran Agne, Tina Owen, John & Sylvia Drozdowski, Fe Moore, Kristie Mingo and Shirley Wakeman.
- Roni Widner has resigned from the Communications Committee and Claire Fitzgaireld has agreed to replace her.

Treasurer’s Report
- presented financial report for September;
- suggested that, barring catatrophe and given a good carnival, finances looked positive through next year;
- indicated he was less unhappy than usual.

Vice-Chair’s Report

- For now the issue with a homeless man living on the grounds is resolved and he has moved on.
- The soda machine is turned off except for special events, as it costs more to run than we make from it.
- The beds at the back of the building have been tidied up. Newmans donated the rock and Derral Godbee donated his time and equipment. Eleanor Kelley, Ralph Farias, Kristie Mingo and Shirley Wakeman all helped with this project.
- Dallas Sundquist donated a bench to WACO. It is currently in the Pavilion.
- The air exchange is now working how it should and the bathroom vents have also been fixed.
- The Library cleaning has been awarded to C. Moore Enterprises.
- Please do not tape anything to the walls and windows. The building has just been painted and the windows have a film applied to them.
- Four tables and 20 chairs will be left out in the main hall for committee meetings etc.
- Donated a hand-made wooden cutting board to be raffled at the meeting.

Chair’s Report
- In our court case brought by the Pralles, the judge granted our request for summary judgement. He denied the Pralles’ request for summary judgement. The Pralles have indicated that they will appeal. We have currently spent about $6000 with our lawyer on this case.
- Movie Night was held September 28, showing Charlotte’s Web. Townsite Video donated the rental, The School donated the projector and popcorn machine and Nicole Pease donated the DVD player.
- The first meeting of the Upper Valley Councils was held September 21 at the Community Center. The combined population of these groups is 5,000 and MSB has a total population of 60,000. We hope to help and support each other in common goals and issues.
- The grant money from the State, $60,000 for an emergency generator is now with MSB, who also budgeted another $50,000 for the same thing.
- Our current liability insurance looks like the best we can get.
- At the WACO Board Meeting on August 20, it was decided to continue the rental agreement with the Willow Historical and Wildlife Foundation, which means WACO pays for their propane and electricity and WACO can use the building for the Carnival Arts & Crafts and the Iditarod restart.
- We are still trying to get the alcohol policy changed for this building.
- October 10 Meeting with DOT, regarding the Noise Study etc on Willow Lake.
- October 11 First meeting of the Willow Planning team.
- October 3 Railroad meeting in Willow, which is one of a series that is taking place in the Valley, regarding the new spur from Point McKenzie.

Carnival
Linda Oxley:
- Every board member is a member of the Carnival Committee.
- October 21. Oktoberfest. Walter Adolphs has agreed to cook again. Dinner is $8 for adults and $2 for children under 12. The Oktoberfest raffle will be drawn then. Tickets are $50 and the top prize is $2000. Carnival Raffle tickets will go on sale then.

CERT
Norm Wakeman:
- CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team and is a group of volunteers who are willing to train so they may help Emergency Services in the event of a major disaster.
- Recent Training. First-aid, CB radio class in Talkeetna, how to get someone out from under a car.

Community Enrichment Program
Pat Madigan:
- We received a new grant from MSB.
- Bridge classes are continuing every Tuesday at 1pm at the Community Center.
- A new session of Tai Chi classes will start soon.

New Business
Trails Committee grant request.
MOTION: Tom Phillips moved that WACO send a letter of support for the Trails Committee grant request to Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation. The motion was seconded.
VOTE: The motion passed unanimously.
Letter of support for Willow Seniors.
MOTION: Claire Fitzgaireld moved that WACO write a letter of support for the second phase of the Senior Housing in Willow. The motion was seconded.
VOTE: The motion passed unanimously.

NW Area Rep Report
Kristie Mingo:
- The Community Center had a guest for a few days, a cyclist who had ridden from South America all the way to Alaska. Willow was his last stop and we were happy to help him. He will be returning to Germany and intends to write a book about his trip.

Claire Fitzgaireld:
- Breakfast Book Club is starting again and will meet on October 23 at 8am in the Library.
- Will be making a centerpiece for Oktoberfest again this year.

Lynn Phillips:
- Family Skate Night has started again and is the 3rd Friday of each month at the Willow Elementary School.
- Calendar is about to go to the printers. If you have any dates you wish mentioned, let us know.

Garden Club
Shirley Wakeman:
- The Library Garden cleanup and Harvest Dinner took place on September 20 and was well attended. Next meeting will be a business meeting.

Dee Pralle:
- The Community Lunch is now being held at the Pioneer Lodge.
- Can now order the Seniors Cookbook for $20 and it will be available on November 1.

Bobbie Lewis:
- Have started the meetings again, but no longer meet at the Community Center.
- We gave two $1500 scholarships to high school seniors and two other scholarships for continuing education, all to students of Willow.

WDMA
Tina Owen:
- WDMA donated $120 to the Willow Area Seniors towards their kitchen costs.
- The next meeting will be a forum for MSB and Railroad representatives to discuss the proposed Railroad Corridor and is October 24 at 7pm at the Community Center.
