Treasurer’s Report
- presented financial report for June;
- had examined WACO’s discretionary spending and proposed a number of austerity measures to the Board, of which the following were approved:
- keep maintenace and office spending to a minimum;
- eliminate subsidies to local groups;
- stop printing The Breeze and move to an electronic edition instead.
- believed that these measures would keep WACO solvent until Oct 2008 (else insolvent in Sep 2007).

Chair’s Report
- July 4th. Thank you to MVFCU and the Willow Lions for their contribution to the insurance. There will be 2 awards this year; Best Float and People’s Choice of Best Classic Car.
- AED. MSB will be inspecting our installation.
- Ron Swanson, Director of Community Development has now retired, but before he did so, he agreed that MSB would do the electrical upgrades, suggested by Jim Dukes.
- 3 Board members attended the reception for the Rasmuson Foundation in Talkeetna. They may be able to help us with funds for upgrading the Community Center to make it more energy-efficient.
- Railroad Corridor. The Chair attended 3 meetings on behalf of WACO. The joint MSB Assembly/Planning Commission meeting and two ARR meetings. John Duffy has agreed to attend our next WACO meeting to discuss this issue. Mark Neuman is planning a town meeting to do the same. The amount available for planning was reduced by the Governor to $10 million. They wish to have the application to the Surface Transportation Board by the end of the year.
- Comprehensive Plan. John Duffy is now going to allocate resources to Willow’s planning process, but first on the agenda has to be Transportation, Circulation and Trails.
- MSB have indicated that they would like to standardize the bylaws for all the Community Councils. WACO will hopefully arrange a meeting between those in the Upper Susitna Valley.
- Mary Reardon and Erv Dedeker are leaving our community and the Chair thanked them for all their community service.

New Business
Request for help from Su Valley student.
Letter requesting help was read and will be put on the web site.
$25 kitchen use fee for local organizations.
This was voted for unanimously at the June 13 Board Meeting. The legality of the motion was questioned, given that a previous motion to do the same thing had been rescinded at a General Meeting and WACO’s bylaws state that “Any action taken by a vote of the general membership shall not be rescinded or changed unless by a subsequent vote of the general membership.” The Chair will take this under advisement.
