Approval of Minutes

Secretary’s Report
- The CIP List for FY 2007 is now available as are the nomination forms for next year’s
- A letter was received from the Forestry Dept. indicating that the lease of the Willer-Kash area for logging is going forward.
- The new Lions rep to the Board is Lynn Phillips.

- The report for August was presented.

Vice-Chair’s Report
- Regarding the rumors that the WACO Board is trying to raise taxes: the Willow Roads Supervisors Board recommended that the mil rate be raised and this will be on the October 3rd ballot.
- DEC checked the kitchen. We have a few things to fix. New regulations go into effect in October, when each person who works in the kitchen on a regular basis will have to get a food handlers license (the test costs $10). WACO will organize classes for all with DEC.
- MSB is still hoping to get the siding replaced this year.

Chair’s Report
- The interview committee will interview 5 candidates on 12th September.
- The bill of sale for the Log Building was given to WHWF. The rental agreement between WACO and WHWF was also signed.
- The Board Training took place on August 28th. Many thanks to Sandra Dillon.
- WACO will sponsor a candidate forum for the State House and State Senate candidates.
- An Audit Committee has been set up: Shirley Wakeman, Erin McLarnon and Mary Jo Arterburn. They will report in November.

Assembly Rep Report
Tom Kluberton:
- Is running as candidate for District 7 of the Assembly.
- Betty Vehrs was at a special Assembly meeting discussing the rewrite of Title 16.
Kelly Lankford Ladere:
- Is running as write-in candidate for District 7 of the Assembly.
- Obtained $26 million for Roads from Congressman Young in 2003.
- Supports the Museum The Chair thanked Betty Vehrs for all her hard work for District 7 on the MSB Assembly.

Carnival
Linda Oxley:
- Octoberfest dinner is October 21st at 6pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $2 for children. The drawing for the money raffle will be at 7pm. Tickets for raffle are $50, only 200 will be sold and there are 12 cash prizes.

Willow 2020 Committee
Erv Dedeker:
- The seminar on the 6th September went well with over 100 people attending. There were 12 people to present different aspects of planning.
- Next meeting is 19th September at 7pm at WCC.

- November 2 7pm at Log Building - History Night. Please bring old photos, newspaper articles etc.

Emergency Services
Kel Jacobs:
- Emergency Services was on standby round the clock during the flood.
- Willow Fire Dept. does not cover MP 81 - 90 of the Parks Hwy.
- Memorial service for Tim McKeown was held on Sunday, the 10th.
- Don Wegner died on Sunday. The service will be 11am on Friday at the Lutheran Church on Bogard Rd in Wasilla.

Dean Davidson:
- The candidates forum was a success.
- Natalie Norris will be at the next meeting to talk about the early days of mushing.

Unfinished Business
Budget.
MOTION: Bill Mailer moved that the budget as presented on the August report be adopted.
VOTE: The motion passed with 35 for and 0 against.
Incorrect information in MSB document.
Claire Fitzgaireld requested that MSB be asked to correct the information in the document Mat-Su Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy June 2006 Update. The Chair assigned this to Pat Madigan.

New Business
AED for WCC.
MOTION: It was moved that WACO obtain an AED for WCC and authorize $240 for an alarmed cabinet and training material. Motion was seconded.
VOTE: Motion passed with no objection.
Krista Grilliot volunteered to be responsible for the training.
Arts & Crafts Fair.
Laurie Courtney: The Fair will be November 18th. The WCC will open at 8am for vendors and 10am for the Public. Preference will be given to previous vendors.
Comprehensive Plan.
MOTION: Mary Shreves moved that WACO write a letter to MSB Planning Dept. asking them to help us begin the process of developing a comprehensive plan for the Willow area. Motion was seconded.
AMENDMENT: Ed McCain moved that the motion be amended to add Any changes made by the MSB Planning Commission or Assembly must be approved by the Willow community. Motion was seconded.
The Chair put off the vote on both the amendment and the motion to the next meeting.
